2023 DVAM Candlelight Vigil & Purple Tie Awards

Domestic violence affects millions of Americans no matter their race, religion, gender or socioeconomic status. Many victims suffer in silence. Each year, advocates, survivors, and supporters recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). On Oct 11, YWCA and the Glendale Commission on the Status of Women hosted its annual Candlelight Vigil and Purple Tie Awards on the steps of Glendale City Hall to center the voices of survivors, honor those who have lost their lives, and recognize men in our community working to end violence against women.

We host this event annually during DVAM to bring our supporters together to raise awareness of this devastating yet pervasive issue, elevate the visibility of community resources available to help, and celebrate the strength and resiliency of the brave survivors in our lives and our community.

The event included special guest speaker Hannah Kozak, followed by an awards presentation and candle lighting.
