Glendale, CA, May 26, 2022 – YWCA Glendale and Pasadena, with funding from The Starbucks Foundation, will host YW Strive for Teens as part of their Camp Rosie programming this summer. The YW Strive for Teens grant awards $45,000 each year to five local YWCA associations in order to provide teen-centered employment training with a focus on digital, interpersonal, and business skills. YWCA Glendale and Pasadena is the only association of this year’s cohort on the West Coast.

“Girls in our community can significantly benefit from YW Strive for Teens and its workforce development and digital skills content,” said YWCA Glendale and Pasadena Board President, Jessica First. “We provide a strong educational foundation for girls that is critical to helping them succeed. YWCA believes supporting young women is essential to ensuring their opportunity and impact in the workforce in the years to come and The Starbucks Foundation grant will help us maintain and increase those opportunities, especially for underserved students and girls of color.”

YW Strive for Teens will be incorporated into Camp Rosie, a week-long summer camp designed to empower and educate girls and those who identify with female development in Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, and surrounding school districts. The YW Strive for Teens curriculum centers on training and skill development meant to improve the student’s ability to gain and maintain meaningful internships and employment so they can become the effective leaders and social innovators of the future. Camp Rosie and YW Strive for Teens will be offered in three different cohorts this summer: June 20-24th; July 11-15th; and July 25-29th.
