YWCA Glendale and Pasadena Announces 2022 Heart & Excellence Awards Honorees

Event Held on International Women’s Day Will Celebrate Local Women At the Forefront of Gender Equity

Glendale, CA, Jan. 26, 2022 – YWCA Glendale and Pasadena is delighted to announce our 25th annual Heart & Excellence Awards. This year’s event will be shaped around YWCA’s core values: courage, compassion, and commitment and will honor women who are driving gender equity in their respective professions and charitable work.

“We are thrilled to be honoring these three phenomenal women on International Women’s Day,” said YWCA Glendale and Pasadena CEO, Tara Peterson. “Their professional and charitable work embodies our core values and this event allows us and to celebrate, as a community, the work being done to advance gender and racial equality.”

  • Courage: Shannon Currie Holmes and Anahid Oshagan (Curators, Reckoning: Racism & Resistance in Glendale, ReflectSpace at Glendale Central Library).
  • Compassion: Carla Buigues (Real Estate Broker and Philanthropist, The Buigues Group).
  • Commitment: Georgette Green (Partner, Hutchinson and Bloodgood LLP; Board member, Glendale Educational Foundation).

This year’s Heart & Excellence Awards will take place virtually on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2022, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. PST.  Each year, this event brings together distinguished guests, government officials, activists, and leaders in our community who share a commitment to  YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.  All proceeds directly benefit our Domestic Violence, Girls’ Empowerment, and Racial Justice programs. A special thank you to our Gold Sponsor: Rima and Donnell Cameron. Tickets are $50 and are on sale now at: heartandexcellenceawards.swell.gives.
