(Glendale, CA) On Wednesday, March 25th, the YWCA Glendale repurposed its existing Community Lending Library Box on the corner of Lexington Drive and Geneva Street to meet the needs of its most vulnerable neighbors during the COVID-19 public health crisis and Shelter in Place Order. Non perishable food items will be stocked daily from Monday-Friday. Community members are invited to take what they need from the box – and to donate items to the box for others. The YWCA asks that everyone respect the six foot social distancing health recommendation as they retrieve items.
“During this unprecedented moment, it is important for us as an essential business service provider to do everything within our power to support our Glendale families. Our domestic violence shelter remains open, but we have had to shift community services to phone calls and video conferencing. Our new food box is just one small way we can support families in receiving the essentials they need. We are so grateful to our friends at Glendale Kiwanis and the Vincent and Toni Espinoza family for creating the Lending Library box for us – it’s become a donation that continues to serve our community in a new and equally powerful way,” Tara Peterson, Executive Director, YWCA Glendale.
